I think the NHL should do away with divisions and conferences. This way, the 16 best teams get into the playoffs, and it's more likely that the two best teams will meet in the final.

There could be new, interesting playoff meetings that could never happen under the current system. The NHL could also consider some kind of a bracket system, re-creating some of the excitement of the NCAA tournament.

I know I'd be excited!
