Let players get creative in shootout competition

If the NHL wants to showcase the skills of the all-stars why are some of the goalies pokechecking during the breakaway events?

Nobody wants to see Evgeni Nabokov pokecheck the puck away when the player is trying to entertain fans with a creative move.

Also, can anyone explain to me why Marian Gaborik was not in the fastest skater competition? The guy gets breakaways nearly every game with his blazing speed.

The only thing more astonishing to me is the fact Scott Niedermayer was in the all-star game after playing only 19 games.

Making the team is supposed to be based on the current year. Him playing was absolutely ridiculous.
