The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Ian Cole to a one-year deal worth $3 million.

Cole, 33, has bounced around in his NHL career, playing with St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Colorado, Minnesota and Carolina.

Last year with the Hurricanes, Cole had two goals and 19 points while bringing a physical presence to the blueline.

With Jan Rutta a UFA, Cole gives the Lightning some solid defensive depth. It'll be interesting to see how he fits in in the lineup, but he's a good pickup at a decent price.
