Linesman crashes hard onto ice trying to avoid skater, leaves Avs-Predators game

NASHVILLE - NHL linesman Steve Barton tried to avoid Nashville defenceman Alexander Sulzer along the right boards during the first period, lost his footing and slammed down backward hard, bouncing the back of his head on the ice.

Barton stayed down for a couple minutes before being helped off the ice Thursday night. No word on his condition was immediately available.

Sulzer was bringing the puck up the right boards when Barton tried to lift his feet up out of the way. Instead, they tangled, and Barton was twisted before crashing to the ice at 10:50 of the first period of Nashville's game with Colorado.
