Mason, Blue Jackets look to rebound from woeful showing

St Louis (20-24-5) at Columbus (24-21-5), 7:00 pm EST

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Steve Mason and the Columbus Blue

Jackets will attempt to bounce back from one of their worst

performances of the season when they host the St. Louis Blues on

Tuesday.

One of the top rookies in the league this season, Mason

surrendered three goals on just eight shots in the first 11

minutes before being pulled from Saturday's 7-3 loss to the

Dallas Stars.

Still considered the early favorite to win the Calder Trophy,

Mason has posted a 19-11-2 record with a 2.06 goals-against

average and an NHL-best seven shutouts.

The 20-year-old's workload will likely diminish in the near

future has he is battling a case of mononucleosis.

Blues goaltender Chris Mason is currently riding a scoreless

streak of more than 95 minutes.

Following a 36-save effort in a 4-0 victory over the

Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, Mason relieved a struggling

Manny Legace during Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Detroit

Red Wings.

Mason turned aside 13 shots in 33 minutes, but lost in the bonus

format.
