Mayer makes 36 saves as Bulldogs blank Senators in AHL pre-season

CORNER BROOK, N.L. - Robert Mayer made 36 saves as the Hamilton Bulldogs blanked the Binghamton Senators 3-0 in American Hockey League exhibition action Thursday.

J.T. Wyman scored two goals and added an assist for the Bulldogs, while Aaron Palushaj also scored.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 17:31 of the first period. Frederic St-Denis collected the puck at the blue-line, and his snap shot banked off of Wyman before squeaking past Binghamton starting goaltender Mike Brodeur.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead at 3:01 of the second period with a very similar play. David Desharnais' shot from the blue-line banked off Wyman, who was stationed in front of the net. The puck bounced past Brodeur and into the back of the net.

Barry Brust replaced Brodeur in the Binghamton net midway through the second.

Palushaj gave Hamilton a 3-0 lead at 17:53 of the third period. Andreas Engqvist dished the puck to Palushaj, who dashed towards the net and backhanded a shot that was stopped by Brust. Palushaj grabbed the loose rebound and buried the puck past Brust.
