Measured by passion, hockey is Canada's game

Steven Walker, Regina

I am writing in response to Adam Proteau's article in which he said hockey is not Canada's game.

We may not be the only puck-loving nation, but there isn't another country that has the passion for hockey like we do.

Hockey originated here and we eat, sleep, and breathe the game year round. Why else do you think the world juniors are here almost every year, or the reason more than 50 percent of the players in the NHL are from Canada (some of the American players’ fathers were even Canadian i.e. Ray Bourque's son, Ryan), or the reason every other country tries to emulate what the Canadian hockey program does?

Yes, of course players from other countries love the game as well, but they don't have the heart and desire a Canadian has for hockey and that's because hockey is our game.
