Mike Carman scores go-ahead goal shorthanded as Monsters edge Marlies 2-1

CLEVELAND - Mike Carman scored a go-ahead goal shorthanded with less than a minute left in the second period as the Lake Erie Monsters edged the Toronto Marlies 2-1 on Friday in the American Hockey League.

Dale Mitchell opened the scoring for Toronto just over two minutes into the second period with his second of the year.

Ryan Stoa tied it with an unassisted goal at 16:14 and Carman got the go-ahead marker with teammate David Liffiton off for elbowing.

Lake Erie's Jason Bacashihua made 33 saves on 34 shots for the win.

Jussi Rynnas stopped 24 of 26 shots for Toronto (8-7-3).

The Monsters improve to 8-7-3 with the win.
