Growing up in British Columbia, I remember always watching

Hey everyone,

Just recently returned from an unbelievable weekend down in Atlanta for the All-Star Game festivities.

It was a huge honor being named to the YoungStars team and I enjoyed every minute of the weekend.

They did things a little differently this year and had the young-stars in the same locker room as the all-stars. It was great being around and talking to established players like Jarome Iginla, Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger and Nicklas Lidstrom - guys who have enjoyed stellar careers and are among the best in the league.

Iginla was one of my favorite players growing up, making it especially cool meeting him.

We actually played for and won the Memorial Cup under the same coach in junior (Don Hay) so we talked about that a little. Iginla is a real good guy and a fierce competitor on the ice.

The YoungStars 3-on-3 competition was a lot of fun.

It was a run-and-gun style of play and the guys were competitive. I think I speak for everyone who played in the game when I say the only thing I'd change would be to make it longer!

It was 7-6 for my team, the East, when time ran out and things were just getting interesting…

Probably the best part of the weekend, though, was sharing the experience with my Bruins teammates: Zdeno Chara, Marc Savard and Tim Thomas.

I have learned a lot from them this year and they have all been big contributors to my success.

They were all very deserving of their all-star selections and I was really happy for them and how well they all played throughout the weekend.

‘Savvy’ and I have a real good relationship, so seeing him score the game-winner for the East at the end of the All-Star Game was awesome. I gave a little extra fist-pump after he buried it.

It was a fitting end to a weekend I’ll never forget.

A native of Vancouver, Milan Lucic is a rookie with the Boston Bruins.
