J.P. Parise was a giant in the Minnesota hockey community, and before the Wild’s home contest against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night, the team honored the former Minnesota North Star with a video tribute.

The video highlighted his career as a North Star, and it’s amazing that even with how beautiful the tribute was, it left out some of the other incredible things Parise was able to accomplish in his career, like taking part in the 1972 Summit Series and his work with Shattuck-St. Mary’s prep school in Minnesota.

During the game last night, the Wild wore decals on the back of their helmets bearing the number 11, the number Parise wore with the North Stars, and the number his son and Wild alternate captain, Zach, currently wears with the team. At Shattuck-St. Mary's, Parise worked with future NHL stars such as Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Toews.

Parise passed away on Wednesday at age 73.
