Minor hockey about more than cost

I am writing about Ken Campbell’s "In the Slot" article featured in the September 7 edition of THN.

While minor hockey can be very expensive, there are gains involved that are worth far more than the money spent to play. Young players meet a lot of friends and learn valuable life lessons through hockey. My parents spent a good chunk of money on my minor hockey career and they wouldn't change anything.

Where would the NHL be today if Jarome Iginla’s or Vincent Lecavalier's parents had invested their money into lottery tickets rather than their son's hockey career?
