Modano has sore ribs, considers himself 'doubtful' for next game, but makes trip

FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars centre Mike Modano has soreness and bruising in his ribs, but an MRI showed no structural damage.

Modano travelled with the team Monday for a three-game road trip, though he considers himself "doubtful" for Tuesday night's game at Edmonton. The Stars next play Calgary on Friday night.

Modano left the ice briefly in overtime of the Stars' shootout loss to Nashville on Saturday night, the opener of his 20th NHL season. He did take part in the shootout, missing Dallas' fourth shot.

The Stars are hopeful that forward Jere Lehtinen, who has been slowed by hip and groin problems, will make his season debut this week. Lehtinen practiced Monday.
