MONTREAL - Defenceman Paul Mara has an upper-body injury and will not be in the Montreal Canadiens lineup against the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

Coach Jacques Martin said Mara would be examined by team doctors to determine how long he will be out of action.

The veteran rearguard was injured in Montreal's 3-1 win at New Jersey on Friday night.

Martin said Ryan O'Byrne would take Mara's spot in the lineup.

He also said that forward Sergei Kostitsyn, who has missed 10 games with an ankle injury, may be ready to return against New York.
