Montreal Canadiens sign Jeff Woywitka to a one-year, two-way contract

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens signed defenceman Jeff Woywitka to a one-year, two-way contract.

Woywitka recorded 11 points, two goals and nine assists, in 63 games with the Dallas Stars last year.

The 27 year old has played 251 career NHL regular season games with the Stars and St. Louis Blues. He's scored eight goals and added 41 assists to go along with 141 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-three, 227-pound defenceman has also appeared in 315 career regular season games in the American Hockey League.

A native of Vermilion, Alta., Woywitka was drafted in the first round, 27th overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2001.
