Montreal Canadiens sign winger Ryan White to one-year contract

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens have signed checking winger Ryan White to a US$625,000, one-year contract.

White, 23, was a restricted free agent.

The Brandon, Man., native split last season between the Canadiens and the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. In 27 NHL games, he had two goals and three assists, was plus-5 and averaged 8:55 of ice time.

The physical winger who is likely to be a regular in the Montreal lineup in 2011-12 has played 43 NHL games over two seasons. White was selected 66th overall by Montreal in the 2006 draft.
