Montreal centre Metropolit, defenceman O'Byrne leave game against Sabres

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Montreal Canadiens lost centre Glen Metropolit and defenceman Ryan O'Byrne to injuries in the second period against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Metropolit was described as having an upper-body injury after he collided with Buffalo forward Patrick Kaleta. O'Byrne limped off after being hit in foot with a shot. The Canadiens announced neither would return.

Montreal is already minus defenceman Andrei Markov, who's expected to miss four months after slicing a tendon in his ankle in a 4-3 overtime win at Toronto on Thursday. Sabres defenceman Andrej Sekera was struck in the face with a deflected shot in the final minute of the second period. After laying on the ice face-first, Sekera got up and skated off on his own and went to the dressing room.
