Montreal trades forward Sergei Kostitsyn to Nashville for Boyd and Ellis

MONTREAL - Sergei Kostitsyn's tumultuous stint with the Montreal Canadiens came to an end Tuesday when he was dealt to the Nashville Predators.

In return, the Habs receive forward Dustin Boyd, goaltender Dan Ellis and future considerations.

Nashville also receives future considerations.

Kostitsyn had seven goals and 11 assists in 47 regular season games last year. But he made more news off the ice then on it.

A seventh-round pick in 2005, he refused to accept a demotion to AHL Hamilton at the start of the season, requested a trade, and eventually joined the Bulldgos only to later walk out on them.

Kostitsyn was recalled in November but never really found his stride, eventually being told to sit out a practice by coach Jacques Martin during the playoffs.

He played in just five games during Montreal's post-season run, only one of them after the first round.
