Morin scores winner in final minute as Texas edges Bears 4-3 for 2-0 series lead in Calder Cup

HERSHEY, Pa. - Home-ice advantage has been anything but for the Hershey Bears in the Calder Cup final.

Travis Morin scored the game-winner with 46 seconds left in the third period as the Texas Stars edged the Bears 4-3 on Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead.

Hershey entered the final with an 8-0 home playoff record, looking in prime position to capture its second straight Calder Cup and third in five years.

The Stars, meanwhile, needed two road victories in a seven-game battle against the Hamilton Bulldogs in order to make the final. Their road success continued in Games 1 and 2, leaving them in control as the series shifts to Cedar Park, Texas, for Games 3, 4 and 5 starting Monday.

Aaron Gagnon opened the scoring for Texas a minute into the first period before Steve Pinizzotto tied the game while short-handed. Garrett Stafford scored a power-play goal midway through the second period to put the Stars up 2-1, but Francois Bouchard answered for the Bears 46 seconds later.

Hershey fired 15 shots at Matt Climie in the third period, but only Andrew Gordon could beat the Texas goaltender. Mathieu Beaudoin had the other Stars goal.

Climie finished with 25 saves. Michal Neuvirth stopped 19 shots for the Bears.
