Neck guard or no neck guard?

While I was watching the Buffalo-Florida game on Feb. 10 I was shocked at what seemed like a simple play almost take the life of Richard Zednik, which sent him rushing towards the Florida bench bleeding profusely.

It wasn't until I saw the replay that I noticed he was cut on the neck by the skate of his captain, Olli Jokinen. Obviously this was an accident and it could've been avoided simply by wearing a neck guard; it may never have happened and we wouldn't be talking about it right now.

So you tell me: should all hockey players be forced to wear neck guards?

I’m sure the NHLPA will be making a vital decision very soon.
