New York Islanders agree to one-year deal with defenceman Steve Staios

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - The New York Islanders have agreed to a one-year deal with defenceman Steve Staios, the team announced Friday.

Staios has been at the Islanders' training camp and played in three pre-season games. He has played in 936 NHL games for the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Atlanta Thrashers, Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.

Staios has 56 goals and 156 assists in his career.
