Colorado (9-10-0) at Anaheim (11-8-3) 10:00 p.m. EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Colorado Avalanche are

struggling to stay at .500. Losing a key defenseman will not

help their cause.

The Avalanche hope to have Adam Foote back when they visit the

Anaheim Ducks on Monday.

Foote suffered a back injury on Saturday when he took a brutal

hit in a 4-3 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings.

He was hit from behind by Los Angeles' John Zeiler, and his neck

was bent against the boards in the right corner of his own zone.

Foote lay motionless on the ice for several minutes before being

helped to his feet and skated off under his own power.

One bright spot from the game was that Colorado picked up its

eighth consecutive win in a shootout.

The Avalanche did not waste much time on Saturday, with Milan

Hejduk and Marek Svatos clinching the win with tallies on the

first two shootout attempts.

The Ducks are 2-3-2 over their last seven games but are coming

off a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday. Corey Perry

scored both goals on the power play.

Anaheim has done its best work with the man advantage,

converting 20 percent of its power play opportunities. Teemu

Selanne leads the team with 10 goals, nine coming on the power

play.
