First reported by Matthew DeFranks of the Dallas Morning News, Dallas Stars goalie Ben Bishop has waived his no-movement clause for the purposes of being exposed to Seattle.
Every team, except for Vegas, will submit a list of exposed players by Saturday and one must be a goaltender.
Bishop's move to waive his no-movement clause will now allow the Stars to protect Anton Khudobin while Stars goalie of the future in the form of Jake Oettinger will be exempt from the draft.
Bishop missed the entire 2020-21 season as he continued to recover from offseason surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee following the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs. He is expected to be ready for the 2021-22 training camp.
When healthy, the 34-year-old Bishop has shown he's a solid option in between the pipes with a career-high of 40 wins in 2014-15 for Tampa Bay. But with his long injury history, it may be enough to turn off Seattle from taking him as a goaltending option on July 21st.
During the 2019-20 regular season, Bishop went 21-16-4 with a 2.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920 with two shutouts.
Bishop has two years remaining on his current six-year deal worth $29.5 million.
