LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets try to bounce
back from a tough loss on Saturday when they visit the Los
Angeles Kings.
Captain Rick Nash and Fredrik Modin tallied for the Blue Jackets
on Thursday, but it was not enough for a win as the Blue Jackets
stumbled to a 3-2 setback against the San Jose Sharks in the
first leg of a three-game road trip.
Columbus, which has never earned a regulation victory in San
Jose, outshot the Sharks 14-4 in the first period and held a 1-0
lead after the session.
San Jose, which owns the best record in the NHL, chipped away at
the lead and a third-period goal by Joe Thornton sealed the win,
dropping the Blue Jackets to 1-13-2 all-time at HP Pavilion.
Columbus is looking forward to playing in Los Angeles, where it
posted a 3-0-1 record last season.
The Blue Jackets hope to duplicate that success against the
Kings, who have dropped each of their last three games despite a
valiant effort on Friday.
Los Angeles scored four unanswered goals in the second period to
erase a 3-0 deficit against the Edmonton Oilers.
However, Dustin Penner's goal at 8:23 of the third period tied
the score and Ales Hemsky scored the decisive tally in the third
round of the shootout as the Oilers escaped with a 5-4 victory.
