ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Blues ended the first half
of the season on a high note and hope to continue that trend as
they begin their schedule following the All-Star break.
Looking to notch their first three-game winning streak in over
two months, the Blues host the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
St. Louis has the fewest points in the Western Conference, and
having seven players on the shelf - including Paul Kariya, Andy
McDonald, and defensemen Eric Brewer and Erik Johnson - has not
helped.
Yet the Blues, who are coming off a 2-0 victory over the Chicago
Blackhawks on January 21, have won three of four and will play
five of their next seven games at home.
They have also gotten at least a point in four straight games
for the first time since November 14-25, 2008.
Ottawa, which has scored two or fewer goals in 25 of 45 games
this season, had won three in a row before falling, 4-1, to the
torrid New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
The Senators may count on rookie netminder Brian Elliott to make
his eighth consecutive start as they begin a three-game road
trip.
