LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Brett MacLean scored the go-ahead goal with 4:32 to play, and Al Montoya made 19 saves in the Phoenix Coyotes' 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in a split-squad exhibition game Thursday night.

Mikkel Boedker scored in the first period for the Coyotes, and Eric Belanger added an empty-netter in the final minute.

Brayden Schenn tied it on a rebound goal with 13:05 to play for the Kings, but MacLean tipped home a centring pass from Garrett Stafford for his second goal in two exhibition games.

Jonathan Quick stopped 18 shots for the Kings, who kept most of their big-name players at Staples Center, including defencemen Drew Doughty and Jack Johnson and first-line forwards Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Ryan Smyth.
