Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price has reportedly waived his no-movement clause for being exposed to the Seattle Kraken. The move would allow the Canadiens to protect Jake Allen.
Price is coming off a post-season that saw him turn back the clock and become one of the biggest cogs in getting the Canadiens back to the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 1993. Price would post a record of 13-8-1 with a goals-against-average of 2.28 along with a save percentage of .924.
Price being exposed has now raised the question of if Seattle would actually consider claiming him next Wednesday. Price still has five years left on his current contract with the Canadiens that has an AAV of $10.5 million annually. He is also owed an $11 million dollar signing bonus in September, which would likely be the dagger.
The no-movement clause being waived only for the purpose of a claim also means that Seattle would not be able to trade him to another team without his consent.
