    Briere signed an eight-year deal with the Flyers on Sunday worth US$52 million.

    The 29-year-old is coming off a career season with the Buffalo Sabres in which he racked up 95 points (32-63).

    Philadelphia beat out several teams that were interested in the unrestricted free agent.

    His monster contract will pay an average of $6.5 million per season with a $10-million salary in the first season.

    In 483 career games with Phoenix and Buffalo, Briere has 376 points (162-214).
