ROSEMONT, Ill. - Manitoba Moose goaltender Drew MacIntyre was credited with the overtime winner in a 2-1 American Hockey League victory over the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday.
The strange goal came when Chicago shot the puck into their own net during a delayed penalty in overtime. With Ondrej Pavelec on the bench for an extra attacker and a penalty upcoming on Jason Jaffray, Steve Martins' pass from the Moose goal-line back to the point eluded its target and sailed the length of the ice for the winning goal.
MacIntyre is the ninth goalie in AHL history to be credited with a goal. He also made 29 saves on the night.
Manitoba's Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Chicago's Bryan Little traded goals in the second period.
The loss snapped the Wolves' seven-game winning streak, but the point gained in overtime still allowed Chicago (38-13-2-0) to open up an eight-point lead over Rockford atop the West Division.
Manitoba (29-22-2-2) has won four of five on the road and remained tied with Hamilton for second place in the North Division.
