This past week in hockey, Linus Ullmark had a physical night in Florida, Zdeno Chara ran his first marathon, and Winnipeg's playoff tradition returned.
Linus Ullmark and Matthew TkachukWith April more than halfway over, many around the hockey world are dealing with playoff fever. The annual condition has affected many, but it has brought us so many great stories to discuss from around the sport.
Linus Ullmark Stops the Puck and the Nonsense
The Boston Bruins are up 3-1 in their series against the Florida Panthers, and Linus Ullmark was one of the biggest stories in their 6-2 win on Sunday night. Early in Game 4, he made what might be the save of the post-season with a spectacular diving save to keep things scoreless.
Saves were not the only thing that had Ullmark busy. Toward the end of the game, he was ready to mix it up with Matthew Tkachuk.
Ullmark was ejected from the game, so Jeremy Swayman played the final 3:11 and did his trademark hug celebration with Nick Foligno.
It's only the first round, but Bruins goaltenders are already having a very busy post-season.
The Boston Marathon is No Match for Zdeno Chara
Zdeno Chara may have hung up his skates, but that doesn't mean he's fully stepped aside from athletic endeavors.
The likely Hockey Hall of Famer ran in the 127th Boston Marathon this past weekend and crossed the finish line in under four hours with a time of 3:38:23.
Chara's participation in the marathon also helped raised funds for the Thomas E. Smith Foundation and the Hoyt Foundation. It should come as no one's surprise that one of the best people in hockey took part in something to help benefit others.
The Whiteout Returns in Winnipeg
For the first time in four years, one of the best traditions in hockey returned this past weekend.
For Game 3 of the Vegas Golden Knights-Winnipeg Jets series, the "whiteout," where fans dressed in white waving white towels returned to Canadian Life Centre. The visual is fantastic, and the sound inside the arena shows why Winnipeg has to be on your bucket list of places to watch a game.
How can you not get fired up for a game being a part of this if you're a Jets fan?
