It's been quite a busy day for Kyle Dubas.

The Toronto Maple Leafs made yet another move on Tuesday, sending forward Pierre Engvall to the New York Islanders in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2024 NHL draft.

Engvall had been one of the success stories of the Maple Leafs' development system, arriving in Toronto as a 2014 seventh-round pick with an intriguing but limited skill set before working his way through the AHL and emerging as a responsible two-way NHL forward.

In 58 games this season, Engvall has racked up 12 goals and nine assists for 21 points while logging a little over 13 minutes in average ice time, never playing above the third line and offering some value as a penalty-killer.

Engvall's ceiling appears to have already been reached. And with the 26-year-old from Ljungby, Swe. making $2.25 million this season and set to be a UFA at year's end, the Maple Leafs thought they could afford to sell him off to the highest bidder while receiving some semblance of draft capital in return.

On Long Island, Engvall will give New York some extra forward depth in their middle-to-bottom six and could potentially even play some spot duty at center while Mat Barzal recovers from injury.

With a pile of new players and draft picks in their pocket, it appears the Maple Leafs are not done yet as they attempt to make it past the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2004. They already traded defenseman Rasmus Sandin to the Washington Capitals and acquired defenseman Luke Schenn from the Vancouver Canucks in under an hour.
