GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Joey MacDonald made 24 saves for Toronto as the Marlies beat the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-1 in American Hockey League play Friday.
Toronto (16-20-7) led 1-0 after the first thanks to a power-play goal from Tim Brent at 18:37. Jonas Frogren stretched the Marlies lead to 2-0 at 10:30 of the second before Andre Deveaux made it 3-0 at 13:49.
Grand Rapids (21-22-1) got on the board at 8:12 of the third on a goal from John Vigilante but Viktor Stalberg iced the game with an empty-netter at 19:13.
Christian Hanson had two assists for the Marlies.
Daniel Larsson made 18 saves in defeat for the Griffins.
