According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have informed teams that they're open to moving the rights to pending UFA Ilya Mikheyev ahead of the start of July 13's free agency.
Mikheyev had 21 goals and 32 points during the regular season and another four points in the playoffs for the best numbers of his career. Mikheyev, who has seen his overall game count limited due to injuries during his career, appears to be one of the odd-men out as the team sits with just $6.4 million in cap space.
Mikheyev has 72 points in 146 games, mainly acting as a buzzsaw middle-six energy forward with the Leafs.
Mikheyev made $1.6 million this season, but TSN's Chris Johnston reported that Mikheyev could look to get $4-5 million on the free agent market this summer.
