PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers look to snap a
two-game skid on Saturday when they host the Tampa Bay
Lightning.
The Flyers, who opened the season with six consecutive losses -
three after regulation - went on to win their next four before
dropping two straight.
Thanks in part to nine goals from Jeff Carter, eight from Simon
Gagne and 14 assists by Mike Richards, Philadelphia leads the
NHL with 3.67 goals per game.
However, the Flyers have allowed their opponents plenty of
offense as well, ranking 28th at 3.75 goals allowed per game.
Goaltenders Martin Biron and Antero Niittymaki have both
struggled with save percentages below 90 percent.
Tampa Bay is 0-1-1 to start its five-game road trip, falling to
New Jersey on Wednesday in a shootout and losing, 5-2, on
Thursday against the New York Rangers.
While the Flyers have one of the more potent offenses in the
league, the Lightning have struggled to find the net, averaging
a league-low 2.17 goals.
