NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers
hope that a visit from the rival New York Islanders on Monday
can help the team get back to its winning ways.
With Lundqvist in the crease, the Rangers have lost three
straight contests - including Saturday's 4-2 setback to the New
Jersey Devils. Lundqvist made 31 saves in the loss.
In their first meeting with the Islanders in nearly two months,
the 26-year-old Lundqvist and the Rangers will try to avenge a
2-1 setback suffered on November 4.
The Islanders have struggled all season but are showing signs of
turning the corner.
After ending a 10-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the
Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday, Chris Campoli scored with two
seconds left in regulation as the Islanders managed to pick up a
point in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Rick DiPietro's status remains a concern. The netminder
returned for Friday's win, but was sidelined Saturday due to his
groin injury, which forced him to miss over two months.
DiPietro, who is 1-2-0 with a 3.03 goals-against-average and
.906 save percentage, could be back in the crease against the
Rangers.
