I can’t believe fans are accepting this whole ‘advertisements on the goalie jerseys’ idea, or as it was suggested last week, more advertisements on the ice.
I watch hockey to watch the game, not to be blitzed by advertisements. I grew up watching hockey with pristine, white boards, with the team logo and the name of the arena at center ice. There was perhaps a United Way logo or something like that as well.
I personally think it's an insult to the fans and city when the arenas take on a corporate name. What ever happened to civic pride and honor?
I understand it's business and people need to line their wallets, but enough is enough.
