NHL suspends Jovanovski for two games for forearm to head of Wild's Ebbett

TORONTO - The NHL has suspended Phoenix Coyotes defenceman Ed Jovanovski two games for a forearm to the head of Minnesota Wild centre Andrew Ebbett.

The league announced the discipline on Wednesday.

Jovanovski hit Ebbett at 9:34 of the third period of Monday's game between the Coyotes and Wild. No penalty was called on the play.

Jovanovski will miss Thursday's game at Los Angeles and Saturday's game against San Jose. He will be eligible to return Monday at Detroit.

He will lose more than US$67,000 in pay, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
