When looking at the Northwest Division one has to wonder what happened.

Just two years ago I'd put any team in the whole division up against any other team in the league. Now it appears what was once the grittiest, tightest division in the NHL has devolved into mediocrity.

Calgary? matador defense. Vancouver? forget 'em. The Oil? Still too young. The Avs? too old. The Wild? no scoring.

Makes a guy almost think about cheering for an Eastern Conference team…OK, it’s not that bad, but it’s getting there.
