Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien BriseBois said Tuesday that Steven Stamkos is not getting moved no matter what happens leading up to the March 8 trade deadline.

Stamkos, 33, is slated to become a UFA on July 1. He would've been the biggest name in the trade market had he and BriseBois agreed to part ways.

The Lightning captain may be unavailable, but several other noteworthy forwards could become trade candidates in the coming weeks.

Jake Guentzel has surfaced in recent trade speculation. Like Stamkos, the 29-year-old Pittsburgh Penguins winger is eligible for UFA status this summer.

On Wednesday, Penguins GM Kyle Dubas dismissed any speculation he was shopping Guentzel, adding that he hasn't spoken to other teams about him. Nevertheless, that's unlikely to silence conjecture over the winger's future in Pittsburgh leading up to March 8.

During a Tuesday appearance on the NHL Network, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman suggested the determining factor in Guentzel's contract talks is where management thinks the club is going. Meanwhile, The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun didn't rule out the Penguins re-signing the scoring winger but questioned whether that would be the smart move.

Calgary Flames center Elias Lindholm is another notable pending free-agent forward. He's been the subject of trade conjecture stretching back to last summer. Earlier this month, The Athletic's Julian McKenzie suggested the Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings as possible destinations if the Flames decide to peddle the 29-year-old Lindholm.

The Ottawa Senators are expected to be sellers by deadline day. The Athletic's Ian Mendes said Vladimir Tarasenko could be on the move. The 32-year-old winger is on a one-year, $5-million contract with a no-trade clause, but he could waive it to join a contender.

Other forwards who could be shopped in the coming weeks include Montreal Canadiens center Sean Monahan, Anaheim Ducks forward Adam Henrique, San Jose Sharks winger Anthony Duclair, Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha and Vancouver Canucks winger Andrei Kuzmenko.
