NEW YORK - New York Rangers centre Blair Betts suffered a broken orbital bone from a hit by Washington's Donald Brashear and will miss Game 7 of their playoff series on Tuesday night.

A Rangers spokesman said Monday that Betts will be out indefinitely with the injury.

The checking centre is one of New York's best face-off takers and penalty killers.

He left Game 6 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference series on Sunday at 9:54 of the first period after a late hit, possibly an elbow, at centre ice by Capitals enforcer Brashear after dumping the puck into the Washington zone.

The NHL is expected to conduct a hearing with Brashear on Monday to see if a suspension is warranted.

The Rangers also complained that forward Brandon Dubinsky needed a tetanus shot after he was allegedly bitten on the arm by Caps defenceman Shaone Morrisonn during a second period skirmish.
