NEWARK, N.J. - New York Rangers scoring leader Ryan Callahan is sitting out against the New Jersey Devils because of injuries sustained against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.
Callahan, who has a team-high 13 points in 12 games, went head first into the boards in the first period of New York's 4-1 loss to Philadelphia. He didn't miss a shift, but Rangers coach John Tortorella says that Callahan has a sore neck that is keeping him out of Friday night's game at New Jersey.
Callahan had a seven-game point streak snapped against the Flyers. He was replaced in the lineup against the Devils by forward Todd White.
