Carolina (11-10-2) at Philadelphia (11-6-4) 1:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- It has been more than three years since

the Philadelphia Flyers have been this hot, and the Carolina

Hurricanes are in their way again.

The Flyers shoot for their seventh straight win and second in

three nights over the Hurricanes when the teams complete a

home-and-home series Friday in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia, which last won six straight from October

30-November 12, 2005, has won five straight meetings with

Carolina.

Simon Gagne put Philadelphia ahead, added an empty netter and

assisted on another goal as the Flyers beat the Hurricanes, 3-1,

in Carolina on Wednesday. Antero Niittymaki made 27 saves in

his sixth start to improve to 3-1-2.

Carolina has seen its opponents score first in eight straight

games and will look to avoid its longest losing streak.

The Hurricanes will look to snap their latest three-game skid

with hopes of improving their power play. They have not scored

in 17 straight chances and converted just 1-of-26 opportunities

with the man-advantage.

Chad LaRose had the lone goal Wednesday and has scored in three

straight games.
