According to a report by ESPN.com’s Scott Burnside, the Phoenix Coyotes lost out on 25 percent of the revenue sharing last season after not hitting predetermined goals.
According to sources quoted in the story, the Coyotes would have earned $15 million in the NHL’s revenue sharing, but took in as little as $10.5 million after not achieving attendance and revenue standards.
The Coyotes, who last week laid off 18 staff members – about 10 percent of their staff – have, according to a separate ESPN.com report, been consulting with the league on a variety of team decisions ranging from staffing to player personnel moves as the club looks for new investors.
