The NHL rumor roundup features speculation about where Predators defenseman Tyson Barrie could be headed and some rumors in Edmonton regarding Philip Broberg.

The NHL rumor mill has been abuzz this week with speculation about the Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks and Toronto Maple Leafs. Meanwhile, the Nashville Predators permitted Tyson Barrie to seek a trade.
Here's a brief look at some other notable rumors that made the rounds this week:
Speaking of Tyson Barrie, the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch thinks the 32-year-old puck-moving defenseman will be a good fit with the New Jersey Devils after Dougie Hamilton was sidelined indefinitely with a torn pectoral muscle. However, ESPN's Kevin Weekes reported the Devils prefer adding a more defensive-minded blueliner. Weekes suggested the Flames' Chris Tanev as a trade target.
Edmonton Oilers defenseman Philip Broberg was hoping to follow Barrie's example and get permission to seek a trade. However, Oilers GM Ken Holland dismissed a report that consent had been given. Broberg's agent, Darren Ferris, told TSN's Ryan Rishaug he's “actively collaborating” with Holland to resolve the issue privately. Meanwhile, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said the word is out that Broberg's available, and teams are interested. As rumors swirl, the Oilers loaned Broberg to their AHL affiliate in Bakersfield.
Staying with the Oilers, the Edmonton Journal's Jim Matheson speculated that Holland could look into signing Corey Perry, whose contract was recently terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks. He anticipated Holland would wait until he's completed substance abuse treatment and fully investigated the reasons why Perry was let go. Matheson pointed out that the Oilers GM took a chance on Evander Kane despite his personal baggage.
