    NEW YORK - Jason Spezza of the Ottawa Senators was named the NHL's first star of the week on Monday.

    The centre had 11 points (4-7) in three games last week. That included a career-high six points in a victory over Montreal on Saturday night.

    Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins was given the second star while Anaheim Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere was named the third star.

    Malkin had 12 points (3-9) in four games as the Penguins posted a 3-1-0 record and moved into first place in the Atlantic Division.

    Giguere was 3-0-0 record with a 1.01 goals-against average, .966 save percentage and one shutout. The Ducks won four straight road games last week.
