SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Nothing has been able to slow
down the San Jose Sharks.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will take the next shot at the league's
best team, hoping to end the Sharks' seven-game winning streak
Tuesday.
San Jose, which went 5-1-1 with its starting goaltender
sidelined, has won three straight games since Evgeni Nabokov
returned. A Vezina Trophy finalist last season, Nabokov may be
in line to win the award this campaign.
The 33-year-old is 13-2-0 with a 2.57 goals-against average and
.896 save percentage on the season. He made 26 saves and Joe
Pavelski scored two goals during Saturday's 3-2 triumph over the
Phoenix Coyotes.
Pavelski has three goals over the last two games and, with 10
goals and 10 assists on the campaign, he is on pace to shatter
his career-high of 40 points in a season - set in 2007-08.
Matt Stajan and Mikhail Grabovski each recorded a power-play
goal in an 81-second span during the third period to lift the
Maple Leafs to a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on
Monday.
Vesa Toskala made 32 saves and defenseman Jeff Finger added an
empty-netter for the Maple Leafs, who have won back-to-back
contests following a five-game winless streak (0-3-2).
