MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The suddenly slumping Montreal Canadiens

look to break out of a scoring drought Monday when they host the

New York Islanders.

The Canadiens are just 3-4-2 in their last nine contests

following an 8-1-1 start. They have not scored more than two

goals in any of their last six games, managing a pair of 3-2

shootout wins during that stretch.

The struggles can be largely blamed on a lackluster power play

that has converted just two of its last 31 opportunities,

including an 0-of-4 effort in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to.

Goaltender Carey Price has not won consecutive starts since a

three-game run from October 28-November 1, although he has

allowed just two goals in each of his last four outings.

The Islanders are improving, having won four of their last five

contests after a 2-7-2 stretch.

Joey MacDonald has started 10 straight games in net, yielding

two goals or less in four of his last five appearances. He made

25 saves in Saturday's 4-2 win over Buffalo.

Doug Weight leads New York with 19 points while Trent Hunter and

Bill Guerin have scored seven goals apiece.
