
RALEIGH, N.C. - Martin St. Pierre scored with 8:25 remaining to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in a pre-season game Friday night.
Alexandre Giroux and R.J. Umberger also scored for the Blue Jackets, who finished the pre-season with a 5-2-1 record. Columbus will open the regular season Oct. 7 at home against Nashville.
Patrick Dwyer and Jussi Jokinen had the Hurricanes' goals. Carolina (1-4-0) travels to Nashville for its final pre-season game before opening the regular season against Tampa Bay.
The Hurricanes have scored only six goals in their four pre-season losses.
Both teams used their top goalies. Steve Mason made 35 saves for the Blue Jackets, while Cam Ward had 29 for the Hurricanes.
