St. Louis (14-20-3) at Carolina (18-15-5), 7:00 p.m. EST

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Blues are glad

the month of December is over.

St. Louis will try to kick off the new year on the right foot

when it visits the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

The Blues, who are coming off a 4-3 setback to the New Jersey

Devils on Tuesday, were just 4-10-1 in December, including an

0-6-0 mark on the road.

Brad Boyes scored his team-leading 18th goal in the Tuesday's

loss for St. Louis, which is allowing a Western Conference-worst

3.41 goals per contest.

Carolina has been mediocre of late but is coming off a 3-1

triumph over Atlanta on Wednesday.

Sergei Samsonov recorded two goals and an assist in the victory

for the Hurricanes, who have won four of their last five games

at home.

It will be St. Louis' first visit to Carolina since a 4-2

setback on January 15, 2006. Cam Ward made 19 saves as the

Hurricanes posted a 1-0 win in the first meeting between the

teams this season on October 30.
