    COLOGNE, Germany - Sweden and the Czech Republic advanced to a semifinal showdown at the world hockey championship.

    Sweden beat Denmark 4-2 in their quarter-final game Thursday.

    The Czech Republic bot past Finland 2-1 in a shootout with goalie Tomas Vokoun stopping 29 shots and forcing two penalty misses.

    Later on Thursday, Russia takes on Canada while Germany faces off against Switzerland.
