Team Harvey’s separated themselves from the rest of the pack at the second stop of the PWHPA’s Secret Dream Gap Tour in Truro, N.S. this weekend.
The team, which includes national team members from USA and Canada including Marie-Philip Poulin, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Lee Stecklein and Jamie Lee Rattray, among others, went undefeated winning each of their three games.
To open the weekend, Team Harvey’s edged Team Adidas 4-3 in overtime. Harvey’s received goals from Hayley Scamurra, Jessie Eldridge and Alexa Gruschow in regulation.
Sarah Nurse scored a pair, including one of the weekend’s prettiest goals, grabbing a turnover before breaking in and freezing Desbiens with a deke in the opening period for Team Adidas.
In overtime, however, it was 'Captain Clutch' herself, Marie-Philip Poulin who scored the winner.
Facing Team Sonnet next, Team Harvey’s was dominant, easily skating to a 6-2 win. After scoring the winner in Game 1 of the weekend, Poulin potted her second goal to open the scoring. Jamie Lee Rattray carried Team Harvey’s the rest of the way by scoring twice and adding an assist en route to being named the game’s first star.
In their final game of the weekend, Team Harvey’s steamrolled Team Scotiabank. Poulin and Rattray scored again as did national team members Stecklein, Emily Clark and Laura Fortino to lift their squad to a 5-1 victory. Stecklein had four points on the night and was the game’s first star.
The next stop on the Secret Dream Gap Tour is scheduled for Nov. 26-27 in Pittsburgh.
